1,100 year old Stone Pagoda in Gyeongju
Three Storied Stone Pagoda at the Second Temple Site of Bipagok in Namsan, Gyeongju
Constructed on the 0.87m-tall base stone, this stone pagoda is located at the second temple site of Bipagok, the northern peak between Yongjang-ri and Samneung at Mt. Namsan, Gyeongju. In 2000 and 2001, the Gyeongju National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage evacuated and restored it.
Though it is 2.91m high, it looks elegant and bigger than what it is because it is located on the peak which commands extensive views.
The pagoda is supposed to have been built in the latter half of 9th century during the Unified Silla period, seeing that each story has a four-tier platform.
