The tradition of using jar as a coffin on the Korean Peninsula is already seen in the Neolithic Age.
It was widely used as a method of burying human bodies in the Bronze Age, and its tradition remains unchanged even in the historical era.
In particular, during the Three Kingdoms period, super-large jars were used more widely as coffins.
This jar coffin shown in the picture was clearly made during the Three Kingdoms period, but it is unclear which dynastic culture it was used in.
The coffin, donated by Ju Bong-sung in 2009, is currently on display at the National Museum of Buyeo.
