불교중앙박물관 다음달 호선毫仙 의겸義謙 특별전 개막

 

2025 불교중앙박물관 기획전 《호선毫仙 의겸義謙: 붓끝에 나투신 부처님》

대한불교조계종 불교중앙박물관은 조선시대 화사畫師 스님들의 발자취를 살펴보는 첫 전시로, 《호선 의겸: 붓끝에 나투신 부처님》을 개최합니다.

조선시대 최고의 화승 의겸 스님은 1713년부터 40여 년간 전라도, 경상도, 충청도 지역을 중심으로 수많은 불화를 조성하였습니다.

스님의 붓끝에서 표현된 부처님 세계는 수많은 중생의 환희심을 일으켰으며, 대부분 국가유산으로 지정될 만큼 학술적·예술적 가치를 인정받고 있습니다.

이번 전시를 통해 붓의 신선으로 불린 의겸 스님이 이룩한 수승한 화업畫業을 조명하고, 한국 불교문화의 우수성과 아름다움을 느끼는 계기가 되길 바랍니다.

Central Buddhist Museum of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism presents its first exhibition dedicated to the legacy of painter-monks from the Joseon Dynasty: ”Uigyeom, Immortality at the Tip of the Brush“

Venerable Uigyeom, one of the most eminent painter monks of the Joseon dynasty, produced numerous Buddhist paintings from 1713 over the span of forty years, primarily in the regions of Jeolla-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Chungcheong-do. His brush vividly expressed the world of the Buddha, inspiring deep devotion in countless practitioners. Many of his works have been designated as national heritage, attesting to their academic and artistic significance.

Through this exhibition, we hope to shed light on Venerable Uigyeom’s remarkable artistic achievements and offer visitors a chance to experience the excellence and beauty of Korean Buddhist culture.
